Program Details
"Explore Team Play" is designed for girls between the ages of 6 - 8 (grade 1-3) who want to learn about playing on a team, while developing their basketball skills and confidence. 4 Mini Teams that Change-Up Every Week Each week, participants will be assembled into 4 teams of 5. The assembling of teams will be different each week allowing for participants to get to know everyone in the program, fostering communication and teamwork skills. Each team will perform drills together before they play 5on5 games. Program Highlights

Length of Program
The “Explore Team Play” program is offered every TUESDAY, for one hour, over a period of 8 weeks from March 26 - June 11, 2024. Blackout dates are: April 16 & 30, May 14 & 28. Location "Explore Team Play" will take place inside half of the gymnasium of Senator O'Connor College School located at 60 Rowena Drive, Toronto, ON, M3A 3R2. Program Breakdown: 6:00pm - 6:15pm Group Warm-up & Dynamic Stretching Participants will engage as one large group in a variety of play-based warm-ups, followed by stretching in movement. 6:15pm - 6:25pm/6:25-6:35pm Team Skill Training/Team Play Movement Participants will be assembled into teams of 5 and will perform specific basketball skills as a group. A schedule will be sent to you personally once you register. While two groups are working on Team Skill Training, the other two groups will be working on Team Play Movement by the net. After 15 minutes, the groups will switch. 6:35pm - 6:55pm Structured 5 on 5 Games Based on the team skill training that was just taught, participants will apply that skill in a series of 5minute games to reinforce that skill in a team setting. 6:55pm - 7:00pm Positive Tips & Wrap-Up Throughout the team skill training portion, participants will be declaring positive tips on how to be a good teammate throughout the 20mins. At the end of the structured games, participants will have to recite the learnt positive tip out loud and will be given a task to continue the positive tip while at home with family. |
